ICON celebrates 2024 ‘company of the year’ win
ICON continues to celebrate its achievement at the 2024 Clinical Researcher of the Year Awards, where we were honoured to receive the ‘company of the year’ title in the International PharmaTimes competition.
With 53 employees reaching the finalist stage across seven categories, including 28 from ICON Biotech, this success highlights the depth of talent, experience and commitment of our teams at every level.
As we reflect on 2024, we are excited to share the insights our finalists and winners gained, while awaiting the 2025 awards with anticipation.
Jayani Desai (finalist), a manager within site activation, entered the start up team category and states: “The PharmaTimes competition offers a fantastic opportunity to showcase your knowledge and understanding of clinical research. Representing ICON was an incredible experience.”
Ruchita Mehta (silver winner), a senior manager from our regulatory affairs team, entered the team leader category. She explained that it was “a great experience to participate in the competition, unique challenges were set at each stage that made me think outside the box and really pushed me to give my best.
“Receiving the silver award was really the icing on the cake and filled me with pride and confidence,” she reflected.
Donna-May Connell (gold winner), an IHCRA, entered the aspiring and junior CRA category. She describes the competition as “offering a unique and enriching experience, providing a platform for me to showcase and enhance my clinical research skills and interact with industry leaders and colleagues from around the world.”
She added: “Entering the competition has encouraged me to challenge myself, think critically and quickly develop innovative solutions to the challenge at hand.”
Mike Robinson (gold winner), a project manager within ICON Biotech, entered the PM category. He explained: “Winning the gold award has had a huge impact on my career and opened up some amazing possibilities for collaboration and career advancement. This award is a significant milestone in my career and has inspired me to continue to push for excellence in innovation in our field.”
He elaborated: “Expanding my network has been one of the biggest perks and I continue to meet people on the basis of the awards. The awards ceremony was like the Oscars, minus the red carpet, but with just as much excitement.”
Maria Larroy Fernández, Ángels Rafael Casandra, Guadalupe Gómez Albo and Eva Gómez Barral, from our regulatory team entered the start-up team category and were announced as gold winners.
Their feedback was that “the competition was challenging, but definitely worth it and we had a good time. Being a finalist gave us the opportunity to experience great teamwork. It was the best team-building experience ever. This has been unforgettable! An incredible experience and I encourage everyone to participate.”
ICON’s success at the 2024 awards highlights the talent and dedication of our teams. The experiences of our finalists and winners demonstrate the competition’s value in fostering growth, innovation and collaboration.
