As President at Symphony Health – an ICON plc company – Connie Inguanti is shaping a culture that allows customers to embrace an abundance of pivotal data

Data strategies differ depending on a customer’s scale and their therapeutic focus. There is no universal solution, however we see all customers striving to create a more data-driven future.

The combination of the need for data insights and the complexity around supporting different therapeutic areas is common.

Against this backdrop, customers are striving to enrich their understanding of healthcare stakeholders by incorporating data on everything from social determinants of health to media habits into their data acquisition strategies.

We see our customers moving towards integrating and synchronising data across all markets – creating an enterprise data strategy in the process. Symphony, together with ICON, is well positioned to support our customers as their data sophistication continues to grow.

We have a long-standing reputation as solution providers, offering data solutions including data integration, tailored to customer business needs.

Our delivery focus continues to be based on the principles of protecting patient privacy, respecting clients through fit-for-purpose data solutions that deliver usable insight, and seamless execution.

Ultimately our mission is to empower our clients to connect patients with therapies that improve and extend their lives.

About an evolution

The data landscape continues to evolve, with the market for data acquisition becoming more crowded.

We understand that customers’ data needs are evolving too. More data and more sources mean that data integration strategies are increasingly critical.

Symphony’s data integration services allow our customers to procure multiple data sources, without the hassle of sifting through redundant and overlapping data, and receiving back one integrated data set.

This saves our customers substantial time and money, empowering them to get right to key business insights.

Working with integrated data sets presents both opportunities and challenges, but when we help customers build the richest possible data set, we feel we’ve helped them put the right foundations in place.

Today at Symphony Health, our teams have very diverse skill sets and experience, and that absolutely contributes to our success.

Creative thinking, critical thinking, detail orientation, time management and interpersonal skills all play a part in the success of our hires and our teams. I believe that in order to be successful in this industry, you need to be a self-starter, someone who is not afraid to take responsibility. At Symphony Health we strive to empower every employee and support them in their decision-making.

Role model

My career has been driven and guided by my values. I have always gravitated towards roles that have provided me with a blend of autonomy, creativity and challenges.

I have been fortunate throughout my career to work for organisations that allowed me to grow and challenge me.

Peers and mentors have also been a big part of my success. I’m fortunate to have a network of like-minded professionals who have always been very supportive. But this does take a little work too!

Being proactive in cultivating these relationships is important – it’s something I have always made time to do and I would encourage people at any stage in their career to do the same.

Role models are very important. They can be a very powerful way to influence young women. Women look up to other women who inspire them and role models help you visualise yourself achieving goals.

Remember that it’s not just women who influence other women. Most people tend to work with a variety of role models, learning from a wide range of individuals that they see as admirable in some way.

Spend time investing in building relationships with these people and you’ll reap the rewards.
